Requirements for a Medical Visa to Turkey

If you are planning to visit Turkey for medical care, you will need a medical visa. To apply for the visa, you need to meet certain requirements, such as having a valid passport with at least six months of validity remaining from your return date of travel and two biometric photos with a white background.

Additionally, you must have adequate medical insurance coverage for the duration of your stay in Turkey. 

Who needs Medical Visa?

If you are a non-Turkish national who requires medical treatment in Turkey, you need to apply for a medical visa. 

Treatment can either be for yourself or for someone else. In any case, you must provide documents proving that you are eligible for the visa. These documents include your original passport, biometric photos with a white background, a medical insurance policy and proof of your financial stability. Make sure to check all the requirements before you apply.

Medical Insurance Requirements

To stay in Turkey for medical purposes, you must obtain medical insurance that covers the duration of your stay. 

Your policy should include coverage for at 3 At least € 30.000 of medical costs are reimbursed, including hospital care, emergency treatment, and repatriation.

Citizens of certain countries like some EU countries are exempt from this requirement. 

Make sure to check the requirements with your local consulate or embassy before submitting your visa application.

Length of Stay for Non-Turkish Nationals

For Non-Turkish citizens, the length of stay granted with a medical visa to Turkey cannot exceed 90 days within a period of 180 days. 

To stay in Turkey for longer than 90 days, you need to apply for a residence permit. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months when applying for your medical visa. Additionally, you may need to provide proof of residence and medical insurance.

Eligibility for Residence Permit

You can aquire a Residence Permit if you come with medical visa and need to stay more than the visa time in Turkey.

Your passport must be valid for at least 12 months (60 days) if applying for a 1-year short term residence permit.

If you are travelling with children under the age of 18 and one parent is absent, an approved legal document proving permission from the other parent is required. 

Furthermore, four biometric photographs are needed according to Turkish requirements. 

Lastly, if you stay beyond the expiration date of your visa or residence permit, you will be fined and subject to further penalties.

Required Documents for Medical Visa

To Apply for a Medical Visa in Turkey, you will need:

  • A valid passport
  • Completed application form
  •  A passport-sized photograph
  • Copy of travel itinerary
  •  Evidence of medical insurance
  •  Evidence of sufficient funds
  • A letter from the treating doctor in Turkey
  • A letter from the sending doctor in your home country
  • Any other documents requested by the Turkish Embassy in your country.

How to apply for Turkish medical visa?

Applying for a Turkish medical visa is a straightforward process.

First, you must complete the online Visa Application form available on the official website of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Be sure to provide all the required information accurately and completely. You will also need to upload a valid passport photograph with your application.

Next, you must submit your application along with the supporting documents required for a medical visa. These documents usually include proof of medical insurance, a valid passport, proof of financial means, a return ticket, and a certificate from a competent medical authority confirming that you require medical treatment in Turkey.

After submitting your application, you will be issued a visa confirmation letter which you must present to the Turkish Embassy in your home country. At the embassy, you will be required to provide additional documents and pay the required visa fee. Once your application is approved, you will be issued with a Turkish medical visa.
