  • Provide evidence that the student’s intellectual and personal qualifications are of high quality, and that their potential for success in the study and practice of medicine is clear.
  • During their undergraduate years, students demonstrate proficiency in the biological sciences while also studying the humanities and social sciences.
  • At least one year of university education in the United States or Canada International students without a degree from an English-speaking country are rarely accepted if they completed their academic studies outside of the United States or Canada.
  • Proof of English language proficiency is required because English is the language of communication and must be proficient in order to achieve effective communication between the medical care team, doctors, and patients and provide health care to them.
  • Prior to enrollment, students must have completed at least three years of college work.
  • Prior to registering, students must complete all required coursework.

Programs at Harvard Medical School

The college offers two Harvard Medical School curriculum options, the details of which are provided below:

  • Pathways Program: This program offers a traditional education that includes case-based learning, clinical experiences (in the first few weeks of the first year), advanced science courses, and a research project, with the majority of Harvard medical students going through the Pathways Program at 80%.
  • Health Science and Technology (HST): It is a joint program of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focusing on biomedical research, basic sciences, and biotechnology. Students of this program begin clinical experiences during their second year.
